Michael van Gerwen is the favorite to win the World Grand Prix however in a championship that has seen seeds scattered, Rod Studd and Wayne Mardle ponder the semi-finals.
Friday is not one which was predicted, however, the four men left standing have perhaps been responsible for the ideal darts from the tournament.
Van Gerwen is the winner but the name has never been defended by him, hes also the real seed remaining after the rest of the worlds top eight were scattered by the conclusion of this quarter-finals.
The Dutchman takes on surprise semi-finalist Chris Dobey, who is enjoying the very best week of his career, whilst at another semi-final Glen Durrants fairy-tale introduction year on the PDC continues against a resurgent Dave Chisnall, that was beaten in the final by Phil Taylor six decades back.

May not have everything his own way from Hollywood, whose ending was a part of the championship and he will desire the same.
Dobey was brilliant in beating Gary Anderson, in beating Ricky Evans, written, and then battled his way beyond Ian White. He has shown that he can win in lots of ways and his double-to-start was one of the best, but Van Gerwen has been stirred in by the angry monster.
Regardless of winning the Premier League, the Masters and the World Championship there have been several questions of MvG after a year.
But this week hes appeared in the disposition in surviving a scare against Jamie Hughes and needing to find his best from Mervyn King, this will be the time of year he comes alive and hes got a 100 percent record against Dobey in their livelihood head-to-head.
Experts verdict – Van Gerwen is the favourite for virtually every game he plays with as everyone apart from Chris Dobey will, and I expect Van Gerwen to triumph. Whatever occurs, if Chris play it has been a week for him and will go up.
Hes beaten Gary Anderson, the greatest win of his career, and hes got further than he has ever obtained in attaining a significant TV semi-final, he has had a wonderful week and I hope he pushes . Rod Studd
In their own words…
Michael van Gerwen – I had to produce something and as Mervyn played a phenomenal game I had to work hard.
The arrangement isnt in his favour and it suits me, although I expect a fantastic game from Chris. So I want to make sure I put him under pressure because he is a lousy dart player he hasnt come this far he has a lot of talent.
That can be the time of season when youre able to earn a #1m within just a couple of months so I have to be sure I am sharp.
Chris Dobey – I believe I did exactly the perfect thing as I couldnt continue going on like that and that I wasnt setting it in a couple.
Double 16 that I took the choice to get back to 16s As soon as I took with 16. Its a wonderful competition, Ive played in double in. Since I began darts Double out contests and it is a excellent format for me.
I will never look past my next competitor. Clearly Michael is outstanding, the world , but I will prepare myself as if Im going into any other game and I will be in my best.
Chizzy was allowed as one to observe following a change of darts and some type on the floor this season which has included three nine-darters and three Professional Tour titles.
He has lived up to this billing from the first round where hes accounted for Gerwyn Price plus he has not looked back in a tournament in which he has decent pedigree, it is the fourth time in the past seven years he has reached the final eight and he looks in the perfect shape to finally break his key duck.
Duzzas year proceeds to go against strength-to-strength, having won his Tour card at January the three-time BDO world champion won a Pro Tour title in a month and has gone on to reach at the World Matchplay semi-final on his own debut and now the Grand Prix on his very first showing.
The pair have met twice previously, such as a Pro Tour final at February along with the Grand Slam of Darts last 16 two years ago where Duzza won it – Friday night looks like being another thriller.
Experts verdict – that I think Chizzy wins very handsomely and the reason I say that is that hes playing and becoming his rhythm faster but in addition his typical of play is indeed far better generally.
Chisnall has now gone 16 games with no averaging less than 85 at a double-to-start format, if he does this against Glen he wins as Glen has been dodging a few bullets.
I dont believe Chizzy, who has so much confidence at the moment, will let off him. I see him winning and then I see him troubling Van Gerwen in the final. Wayne Mardle
In their own words…
Glen Durrant – that I should be elated but Im scratching my head askingam I at the semi-final. But what Ill say is that when these opportunities present themselves youve got to catch them.
It isnt about expertise that is terrific, and Im towards the end of my career, maybe five or six years, I am here to win. Then it is a excellent week When I had been 20 or even 30 if I could win I am also from the Grand Slam, however I know exactly what the result is and that I enjoy putting pressure on myself.
Chizzy is a winner whos playing while Im pulling and pulling, a famous PDC player but I am going a hit at the 12th round and grabbing them on the chin!
Dave Chisnall – it is a tough format as we have seen with the seeds heading out but I simply attempt to plod on, eliminate and running, hit scores and hit stinks.
Playing Gerwyn in the round – that was the tie of the round and it was a fantastic game that went the way but Ive had three games. Steve [Bunting] was and Nathan is such a scrappy player.
Its been a excellent year, I am very happy at home also so I am glad when I move.
Coverage of this semi-finals of the World Grand Prix gets underway Sky Sports Action & Main Event on Friday night from 7pm.
