Jumps season kicks off at Chepstow with Persian War

December 21, 2019

The waiting is over for National Hunt lovers as the for its season in Chepstow happens on Friday, with all the Unibet Persian War Novices Hurdle highlighting that the first of two weeks.
Fergal OBrien runs Champagne Well and Paint The Dream at the Grade Two, and despite the former being a much shorter cost, the coach feels theres small between them.
I wouldnt want to split them, to be fair, said OBrien.
Paint The Fantasy did nothing wrong last year and ended up winning on his last run. He is there on his virtue, although hes only a novice and will go following this. If we didnt think he was great he would be in an ordinary novice.
Hes had a fantastic summer in the home with his owner, so I wouldnt wish to split them.
Champagne Well did very well last year and is extremely strong, but what I will say is Paint The Fantasy has a fantastic summer and looks fantastic, so I am excited about seeing the set of them.
Rebecca Curtis also has a score of 140 to boot up and runs Ruthless Article, that has enjoyed.
I think hes got a ridiculous evaluation actually, they tend to get overrated in the summertime, I do not think he is a 140 horse, she said.
He is hard to set as he would have three penalties in a usual novice and hed fight off 140 at a handicap.
He will have a twist round and have a rest before coming back out the summertime. Hes got a crack at this.
The Philip Hobbs-trained Thyme Hill, who had been third at the Cheltenham Bumper, Paul Nicholls Trevelyns Corn and Alan Kings Harambe are one of the runners.
Nicholls told Sky Sports Racing:It is a competitive race on paper, but he had a breathing procedure in the summer and we have always needed this race for a target, because hes only a beginner until November 1.
Hes healthy and well and must run well
In the Dunraven Windows Novices Chase Curtis runs Lisnagar Oscar, well known for your Albert Bartlett after winning a Grade Two.
Three miles in Chepstow could take a while getting, especially first time out, but he did stay it nicely over conflicts, explained Curtis.
I believe hell encounter a fantastic piece for the experience, but he could function as good as some of his competitors so Im hoping for a good run.
Hes not the greatest, but hes a smart little jumper. I am hoping hell earn a chaser, but we will find out on Friday.
OBriens De Name Evades Me has been ultra-consistent over hurdles and is another.
He never defeated us a year ago and has not been out of the initial four since weve had him, explained OBrien.
He was second at Cheltenham (to Aux Ptits Soins) on tender ground, which we didnt think he would enjoy, and is only a real good horse. Im excited about seeing him .
Hell enjoy the trip and its something to build on.
The Professor Caroline Tisdall Supports Heroic Jumpers Veterans Handicap Chase sees some old favourites like Regal Encore and The Young Master line up.
Curtis runs 2018 Scottish National hero Joe Farrell, who was fancied to the Grand National itself season but found it arriving too soon after injury.
He seems in really good shape. Last year he had an accident at this stage of the year, but hes fine now, explained Curtis.
He ran a wonderful race at Newbury, but people staying chasers want time between their races and we had been pushed for a while getting him ready for the National he probably didnt have enough time between his races.
Hopefully this year will work out much better for him.
OBrien runs.
It is going to be a fine starting point for him, he is starting off here in order to up him to go to Cheltenham in a few weeks, explained OBrien.
