The Denver Broncos will commemorate owner Pat Bowlen’s life span using a helmet decal for the 2019 season. Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis declared Monday the players will wear a”Mr. B” decal to honor Bowlen this season.
One of the owners in NFL history, both on and off Bowlen died Thursday at age 75 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Bowlen will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August.
“It’s a miserable moment. There is no question about it. It has been a tough few days,” Ellis said Monday. “But we are eager to continue for Pat and we’re eager to celebrate his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August in Canton and then we’ll do a few things through the regular season, of course, to honor himas well.”
In addition to this decal, the Broncos will maintain a brief tribute ahead of the group’s first home game on Sept. 15, and at a pre-planned moment before a mid-October match versus the Tennessee Titans for both Bowlen and fellow Hall of Famer Champ Bailey.
