Forward Alexis Sanchez”doesn’t regret” joining Manchester United but he did not get enough playing time to be a success.
The Chilean, 30, joined Inter Milan after 19 weeks in Old Trafford on a loan deal in August.
He had been the highest earner of United about #400,000 per week – but scored only five times in 45 matches after joining from Arsenal in January 2018.
“I’m very happy I went to Manchester United,” Sanchez told BBC Sport.
“I have always said that. It is the club that’s won the most.
“After I moved to Arsenal it was great – I was glad there – but United were growing at the time, they had been purchasing players to win something.
“I wanted to join them and acquire everything. I do not regret going there.”
After signing in Barcelona at July 2014 for # 30m sanchez scored 80 goals, and was nominated to the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Players of the Year award at 2017.
His death United coincided with a downturn in shape.
He scored two goals last season, though he impressed throughout the rush of Chile the summertime.
Sanchez started only 31 of 77 possible matches for United and completed 13 of those.
“I believe that I’m pleased when I play my national group,” he said.
“I was happy at Manchester United also, but I’ve always mentioned to my friends: I need to perform.
“If they’d allow me to play I will do my best. Occasionally I would play 60 minutes afterward I wouldn’t play the next game – and that I did not understand why.”
With the team citing an accident picked up on international duty, Sanchez was not involved in matches and did not feature at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side three league games, before his move to Inter Milan.
However, the Chilean said he sensed”ready to perform” after the Copa America.
“I felt fine,” he said. “I think I did well in the Copa America.
“Then, it [not playing with any pre-season games] depended upon the coach to let me perform . You have to ask this question, not me.”
