A Concise History of the UFC
The first-ever UFC occasion (a pay-per-view affair) was held in the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado. It was in 1993 and the winner was Royce Gracie of the legendary Gracie family — they are like the Kardashians of MMA. After UFC 1, the sport began to generate interest from patrons and its fan base began to grow. Fighting for a place in the professional sports arena, UFC enlarged from only pay-per-view and created The Ultimate Fighter, a reality tv series for Spike TV about up-and-coming MMA fighters. Because of this UFC’s mainstream exposure, fighters like Georges St-Pierre became household names. Dana White, who’s held the position of UFC president since 2001, has contributed to the game’s mainstream appeal by ensuring cards feature notable fighters and events are greatly encouraged. As of 2018, there was over 400 events and female stars like Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg are becoming just as popular as their male counterparts. Names like Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, T.J. Dillashaw and Rose Namajunas are becoming as popular as other stars of the sport world such as Tom Brady, LeBron James, Serena Williams and Sidney Crosby.
How to Bet on the UFC
When it comes to gambling on the UFC, there are two main types of bets that can be made. Both gambling options give you a chance to put smart wagers on the matchups and fighters of your choice.
A moneyline wager is a wager you put on the fighter you think will win the fight. Each fighter is given the label of underdog or preferred depending on if they’re predicted to acquire or lose the match. For this instance, we’ll use made-up fighters. Frankie”Frankenstein” Frankowitz is recorded at -600 and his opponent Manny”Manners” McManus is recorded at +450. Within this scenario, Frankenstein is the preferred and Manners is the underdog. To be able to win $100 on Frankenstein, you would have to wager $600. But if you bet $100 on Manners, you’d net $450 when he wins. FYI, he’s named Manners because he is super polite.
UFC betting odds will be provided for OVER/UNDER round gambling wagers. This is a wager you can make on the number of rounds a bout will last. For a three-round contest, a wager will usually be OVER/UNDER 1.5 rounds. To get five-round matchups, the OVER/UNDER is generally 2.5 rounds. A good example would be if M. Bison and Colonel William F. Guile from Street Fighter were siphoned off to get a five-round competition. The UFC betting odds for this particular pretend fight are +120 when the game goes over 2.5 rounds, and -140 if the match goes under 2.5 rounds. If you believe that it’ll be a quick fight, you would take the UNDER and have to bet $140 to make $100. If you think the fight will last more than 2.5 rounds, then you would take the OVER and you’d need to wager $100 to win $120. If Colonel Guile KOs Bison in the center of the next round, should you bet the UNDER, you would win your bet. Sonic Boom!

The Difference Between UFC and MMA
The distinction between mixed martial arts and the Ultimate Fighting Championship is that MMA is your sport and UFC is a business. Mixed martial arts is your style of fighting used in the UFC. It is the same as how the NFL is a basketball and soccer is the game. MMA is a composite of different styles of fighting like wrestling, boxing, jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. Mixed martial arts has existed since the early 1900s but it was not until the 1980s it gained steam. In 1993, upon the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, MMA became the powerhouse it is today. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas. John Wick would probably be the surface of the UFC if he had been a real man because he knows how to fight and would likely win all his struggles. Don’t touch his dog.
