Jurgen Klopp considers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been”refreshed” after a much-needed rest during the worldwide break.
The two Mane and Salah, about the rear of a Liverpool season which didn’t end on June 1 till their Champions League victory that is ultimate, had a summer participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, for Egypt and Senegal respectively.
Mane moved all the way to the closing, meaning he reported back to training with Liverpool five times.
Neither have suffered from a dip in shape, with the pair scoring seven league goals between them already, but using neither Egypt nor Senegal in activity in the latest round of international fixtures, Salah and Mane remained in Liverpool, with Klopp giving them the remainder he feels that they deserved.
“It was ideal for the boys who did not need to go,” Klopp said. “I’m happy to allow them to go and perform for their national team, it is a significant honor.
“However, I’ve said it 500 times, if you see the boys who did not have to go this moment, for various reasons, then everything differs.
“To get five or six days away, they always train, but they don’t have to worry here and play proper football sessions.
“We might have trained as there were five players , but then Sadio and Mo wouldn’t have got the time off that they needed.
“We have another week with just two games, which isn’t easy, but we cannot alter that.
“They are refreshed, that’s the way it can be, and we can use that.”
There has been a further boost from the pre-match press conference before Saturday’s game with Newcastle of Klopp, together with Klopp revealing injured goalkeeper Alisson’s situation has improved, but there isn’t any hurry to bring the back into the fold.
“Alisson is improving but we can not place any pressure on him” Klopp added. “It was a serious injury from the calf but today it’s far better. It is very great for him, good for us. We don’t know exactly [the return date].
“The goal was always after the next international break he could be prepared but we do not know. Hopefully everything will be OK for the rest of the season.”
